DURHAM, NC (WNCN) — Officials at NC Central University said Sunday night that a 40 minute campus lockdown was lifted after Durham Police said a person was shot on the campus Sunday night.
At first, in what was called an “NCCU University Police Emergency,” the school Tweeted that there was “active gunfire” around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.
“Active shooter. If safe, seek shelter away from gunfire. Active shooter. Lock your door,” the Tweet said.

At 11:55 p.m., NCCU Police said that the lockdown was lifted.
“All clear. The campus lockdown has been lockdown lifted. Normal activities can resume,” the Tweet said.
