MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2015) – Milligan College senior volleyball player Jessica Davenport has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Setter of the Week for the fourth time during the 2015 season, announced the league office Monday. The award was for the week ending Oct. 26.
Davenport has now won the award nine times in her career as she matches the number of times she took home the award last season.
As part of Milligan’s perfect week, Davenport registered her career high in assists for three-set matches on Tuesday against Bluefield with 39. On Saturday against Truett-McConnell, she finished the five-set match well, tallying seven assists, two kills and two service aces in the deciding race to 15, finishing with 49 assists, four service aces, eight digs and four kills on the match.
Overall, Davenport finished the week with 156 assists in four wins, good for an impressive 10.4 assists per set average. She has 981 assists this season.
Davenport will now set her sights on taking home her fifth player of the week award of the season, which would be the most by a Milligan volleyball player since Chelsea Spivey won five in 2012. This week, Milligan has an important matchup with AAC frontrunner Bryan College on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse, followed by a trip to Lebanon, Tennessee, and University of the Cumberlands on Oct. 30.
