Dillon Cole West and Austin Douglas Sloan

CHURCH HILL, TN (WJHL) – Church Hill Police Department officers arrested two men Friday after receiving a tip about suspicious activity involving possible drug deals around the Volunteer Boulevard and Fudges Chapel Road area.

According to the release, a CHPD detective and a Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office deputy were at the Church Hill Fire Department Station 2 on Fudges Chapel Road when they saw two men walking toward the road and then quickly turned and walked away headed toward the Church Hill Inn when they saw the marked police vehicle.

Officers went to check on the two men – Dillon Cole West,28, and Austin Douglas Sloan, 21, both of Church Hill – and a pat down of the men revealed a Pyrex dish was discovered under West’s jacket.

West then reportedly ran from the inn parking lot, across Volunteer Boulevard and across both lanes of Highway 11W. He was arrested after a lengthy pursuit and was found carrying a small silver container that had 2.5 orange pills believed to be Suboxone, two rolled up coffee filters and a glass container with clear liquid substance with a strong chemical odor.

The Pyrex dish had black burn marks on the bottom of it.

Sloan was detained in the parking lot and a jar of clear unidentified liquid was found in his jacket pocket along with a syringe.

Officers learned that West and Sloan had been staying at the Church Hill Inn and a search of the rooms revealed several needles, a hot plate and a red gasoline jug.

An investigation led officers to check a property near the inn and inside the vacant Alvis Kilby warehouse they found an area where methamphetamine had been recently manufactured, as well as buckets with liquid that had a chemical odor, tubing and bottles with holes and tubing in the lids.

The Meth Task Force responded to the scene with the sheriff’s office narcotic personnel and disassembled the lab.

West was charged with promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule III, possession of drug paraphernalia and evading arrest.

Sloan was charged with promotion of manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
