(CNN/WJHL) – Around the world, fans of “Back to the Future” are counting down.
October 21, 2015 — is the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown landed in the future in the second film.
So where are all of the hoverboards and Jaws 19? We break down what the original 1989 film got right about the future.
In the movie you see headsets being worn at the dinner table, and we have Google Glass, Samsung’s Gear VR and the Oculus Rift.
What about video conferencing like when Marty has a fight with his boss? That is also real today. We have Skype.
“Back to the Future” also predicts the Cubs win the World Series, ending a more than 100-year drought that still exists today.
And with the cubs in the playoffs, there’s still a chance this one could come true.
The one invention everyone wants is this hoverboard and several companies have tried to make this childhood favorite, Lexus concept must stay on track. If you want to buy one now, you’re stuck with wheels.
A couple of things we don’t have — a flying car or JAWS 19. But universal has just released a fake trailer for “JAWS 19” for all “Back to the Future” fans.
And for any fan that needs a reminder about this momentous date, Carmike Cinemas 14 in Johnson City will be screening both “Back to the Future” Part 1 and 2 Wednesday, Oct. 21 starting at 7 p.m.
