ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police say a 4-year-old girl was shot and killed during a road rage incident on I-40 on Tuesday afternoon. I-40 westbound is shut down at Coors at this time and will remain closed for several hours.
Police are searching for a suspect’s vehicle, however, due to conflicting information they are not releasing any details and are interviewing multiple witnesses.
No arrests have been made at this time and Albuquerque police are requesting the public’s help; if anyone has any information, they are urged to call 242-COPS. Police are looking for information on:
- Occurred on I-40 westbound starting east of Coors
- Involving a vehicle in the westbound lanes that cut off other cars
- Road rage incident that occurred at about 3 p.m.
A sheriff’s deputy was first on scene and found the child with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. The child’s father told police that the injury stemmed from a road rage incident where another driver opened fire.
Police are investigating Coors to 98th searching for casings. There are no other reported injuries at this time.
