ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WKRN/WSPA) – A 17-year-old girl died following a hunting accident with her father in South Carolina Thursday night.
It happened on Dalrymple Road in Anderson County just before 6 p.m., according to News 2’s sister station WSPA.
Authorities say the girl, identified as Amanda Foster, was struck by a round from her foster dad’s high-powered rifle and was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.
Foster, a student at Pendleton High School, was found in full camoflauge with one gunshot wound that entered her back and exited her chest.
The medical examiner reported her foster father is who accidentally shot her while they were deer hunting on her property.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said they are treating this as an accident and have turned the case over to the DNR.
