Two customers injured after car crashes into Kingsport restaurant

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – A car crashed into a Kingsport restaurant Wednesday afternoon around 1:00 p.m.

Police were called to Skip’s Diner on West Stone Drive after car driven by a 78-year-old man crashed into a building.

Ballard Wolfe told police he was trying to park his 2006 Toyota Camry when he says he accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal.

Police say his Camry struck a 2012 Jeep Patriot that was parked in front of the business. A report says the Camry continued on, jumped a curb and struck an outside wall and thus came to a stop partially inside the restaurant.

Police say two customers inside the restaurant were treated at the scene by the Sullivan County EMS.

Wolfe and his passenger did not appear to be injured, according to police.

Police say, both Skip’s Diner and a restaurant next door, El Ranchito, sustained structural damage during the crash.

Since the accident happened on private property, no citations were issued.
