JCPD charge Kingsport man in Walgreens armed robbery in north Johnson City

Christopher Fox

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers made an arrest following an armed robbery that took place at a Walgreens in north Johnson City Monday.

According to a JCPD news release, officers were called to Walgreens, 4210 N. Roan St., in reference to an armed robbery. Employees at the store said a white man, approximately 6-feet-tall, wearing blue medical scrubs, a blue hair net and a blue surgical mask, walked up to the pharmacy counter, showed a weapon and demanded prescription drugs.

Employees reportedly gave the man the drugs and he left the front entrance of the store heading toward the intersection of North Roan Street and Carroll Creek Road.

Police located Christopher Fox, 30,  514 Stapleton Drive in Kingsport, a short distance away from the Walgreens. Before he was arrested, Fox reportedly took an unknown amount of pills and was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.

“Officers responded to that area and were able to find the surgical mask, the hair net and gloves, along with a pretty good amount of prescription medications … taken during the robbery, “Sgt. Don Shepard said.

Fox was charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center Thursday.

Kingsport Police Department officers confirmed that Fox is the same man accused of a botched CVS pharmacy robbery on West Stone Drive.

Officers told us Fox tried to rob the store in August after covering his face with calamine lotion.

Police said Fox also called in a fake bomb threat at the Kingsport Town Center that same day.

JCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is also investigating two other robberies that occurred last month at two other Walgreens in the region. Investigators said at this point there is no evidence to suggest the two previous robberies are connected to the one on North Roan Street.
