SCSO deputies search for motor vehicle theft, burglary suspects

SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently searching for two people connected to several motor vehicle thefts and burglaries.

According to a SCSO news release, deputies were called to a home on Vance Tank Road in Bristol around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, attempting to locate Jeffery Hammonds, 30, and Amber Jones, 27, both of Bristol.

Jones and Hammonds are reportedly suspects in several motor vehicle thefts and burglaries.

When deputies arrived, they saw the pair getting into a stolen vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle.

Hammonds was driving the vehicle and at one point drove at one of the detectives. The detective was able to avoid being hit by the vehicle and the suspects then went down Vance Tank Road toward Weaver Pike in a reckless manner.

Deputies a short time after called off the pursuit.

Hammonds faces charges of aggravated assault, felony evading arrest, theft over $1,000, reckless endangerment and driving on a revoked license. Additional charges are pending against him in connection to the motor vehicle thefts and burglaries.

Jones has an outstanding warrant for a violation of probation and also faces additional charges as part of the investigation.
