Public invited to PTSD Town Hall to be held at Northeast State

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – A local veterans organization is asking for the public’s help to combat an enemy known to many: post traumatic stress disorder.

The Tri-Cities Military Affairs Council will be holding a PTSD Town Hall meeting on Thursday, October 15th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Northeast State Community College.

Organizers emphasize that the meeting is not just for veterans, though, as PTSD can affect people in all walks of life, including first responders.

“PTSD is not just owned by the veterans community,” says TCMAC President Ernie Rumbsby, “anybody can develop PTSD, and we want to get the message out.”

Speakers will be on hand to address the affects of PTSD, suicide prevention, sexual trauma, and ways everyone can help someone who is suffering from the affliction.
