Amtrak train from Vermont to DC derails; no word on injuries

NORTHFIELD, VT (AP) – An Amtrak train has derailed in central Vermont. It isn’t immediately clear whether there are any injuries.

Amtrak confirmed in a Twitter post Monday that the Vermonter train from St. Albans to Washington, D.C., had derailed.

Vermont State Police and local fire and rescue agencies are responding to the scene in Northfield, about 10 miles southwest of Montpelier. Numerous emergency vehicles are at the scene.

Further information was not immediately available.
