GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Greene County Emergency Management Agency officials are encouraging campers planning to set up along the Nolichucky River this weekend to cancel their plan due to heavy rains and possible flooding.
According to a news release, EMA officials said the Nolichucky is not expected to reach flood stages, but could be close on Monday.
“Those who may be camping along the river or creeks, such as Paint Creek, Horse Creek, Davy Crockett or other locations are encouraged to cancel plans for this weekend,” according to the release. “Those with cattle and livestock in areas prone to flooding are encouraged to move animals to higher ground.”
Officials also cautioned drivers about flooded area while driving, such as driveways and ditches, and to not drive through barricades.
