Local tennis star and coach, Zannis, dies at 62

JOHNSON CITY, TN — One of the biggest names in local tennis died Friday.

A former champion at ETSU, a club professional at the Johnson City Country Club for 38 years and a coach who led Science Hill to five Class AAA team state titles, three doubles team titles, and one individual championship, Pete Zannis affected more lives than we know in his time here.

He was inducted into the ETSU Hall of Fame in 1996, and was the TSSAA Coach of the Year in 2008.
