JCPD arrest man on identity theft, evading arrest, vandalism charges

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a man Thursday following a report of possible drug activity at an East Lakeview Drive apartment.

According to a JCPD news release, officers responded to the apartment where they made contact with Dustin Hughes, 26, of Johnson City, and several others in the apartment.

Police said Hughes did not have identification on him and when asked his name he gave another name.

Hughes ran from the scene when officers found out he was giving false information and after a brief chase he was arrested.

During the pursuit, Hughes reportedly ran into a fence and damaged it.

Hughes was arrested and charged with identity theft, evading arrest and vandalism under $500.

He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $12,000 bond pending hid appearance in Sessions Court Friday at 10:30 a.m.
