(WJHL) – Two more former employees indicted in connection with a racketeering scheme to defraud patients and employees at a Southwest Virginia nursing home now know their punishment.
According to a federal indictment, the defendants defrauded Medicare and Virginia Medicaid and took advantage of people at The Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Weber City, Va.
On Wednesday, one of those defendants, Vickie Cox, pleaded guilty in federal court in Abingdon to a racketeering conspiracy charge.
All other charges against her were dismissed.
Cox was sentenced to six months in prison, and two years probation.
Meanwhile, court documents revealed Alicia Dietrich pleaded guilty to the same charge and must remain on probation for five years and pay a $5,000 fine.
