Saturday, September 5th
Tweetsie Trail Treasure Ride: This free non-registration event will be open to all bike riders who want to enjoy a long ride along the entire course of the trail from Hatcher Lane to Legion Street and then back to Hatcher Lane Trail Head. This ride will take place from 8:00AM to 11:00AM and will include a unique opportunity for riders to take part in our weekend of treasures that may be found along the Tweetsie Trail. Those riders that obtain three tokens and return to Hatcher Lane for their final token will automatically qualify for the drawing of cash and prizes valued at $500.00. Those who qualify will be asked to attend the Tweetsie Trail Family Celebration that will be held at Elizabethton High School later that evening, as the winner must be present. Each bike rider that attends that event with the four tokens in hand will be given a boarding pass to see if they win the grand prize of the Tweetsie Trail Treasure Trip Ride.
Tweetsie Trail Bike Challenge: City Officials from Elizabethton will challenge their friends from the City of Johnson City for a morning bike ride along a section of the Tweetsie Trail. Beginning at 9:00AM this event will start at Hatcher Lane and will conclude at the entrance to the downtown business district in Elizabethton.
The Tweetsie Trail Treasure Trip: This free non-registration event will be open to all walkers and casual bike riders who wish to enjoy any or all of the newly finished Tweetsie Trail. Walkers will be encouraged to participate and enjoy special events set up along the entire trail from the Legion Street Trail Head and the newly constructed Rotary Pavilion located nearby and continuing to the new Trail Head at Hatcher Lane. Additionally, the Golden Trial section will host special challenges for participants who wish to take part in the Tweetsie Trail Treasure Trip between the hours of 10AM until 3PM.
The Golden Trail section of this event will run from Dixon Park located directly across from Sycamore Shoals State Park to Harold McCormick Elementary. Participants along this section of the trail will come across live music, businesses giving promotional items and prizes as well as five historic Tweetsie Trail Depots. Each Depot will represent a unique treasure found in Elizabethton and Carter County; one that promotes the quality of life and history found within our beautiful community. Participants will be challenged to complete a simple task associated with the treasure found at the depot. They will also qualify for a gift associated with this treasure stop. If they complete the task the participant will be given a stamp for their passport, which will be given when beginning the Trip; and will continue on to the next Tweetsie Trail Depot. Those participants that obtain five stamps on their passport will automatically qualify for a cash and prize drawing valued at $500.00. Those participants that receive all five tokens will be asked to attend the Tweetsie Trail Family Celebration that will be held at Elizabethton High School later that evening.
