Saturday morning more than 500 runners from across the region gathered in Johnson City for the 6th annual Bluegrass Half Marathon.
Race Director, Karen Hubbs, says those who participated came from places like Knoxville, and Charlotte.
“We did a lot of marketing outside of our area, as a group we hope to expand that and bring more people to town, and we really want this to be a tourism draw to Johnson City, Its a great area, and this course goes through some of the most beautiful parts of Johnson City, the VA, ETSU, the tree streets, said Hubbs.
In the end, the racers who took the top spots for both male and female were from right here in Johnson City.
Hubbs tells us some of the proceeds from the race will go to local non-profits and schools.
