CARTER CO. (WJHL) – Traffic was moving slowly for a few hours Friday morning on Highway 321 in Carter County after a log truck reportedly struck a car near a marina on Watauga Lake.
According to the county 911 dispatch, the log truck and Jeep collided around 8:30 a.m. near Fish Springs Marina on Highway 321.
A preliminary Tennessee Highway Patrol crash report indicated that the Jeep was trying to turn left onto Highway 321 from Whaleytown Road, pulled into the path of the log truck and crashed into it.
After the crash, the log truck was found on Fish Springs Road and the Jeep landed in a ditch line of Highway 321.
The driver of the Jeep, Charles Vines, 82, of Butler, was injured in the crash and airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the log truck, Edward Roberts, 52, of Marshall, N.C., was not injured in the crash.
Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and neither man has been charged.
The crash scene had been cleared by 10:45 a.m.
