Kingsport pastor charged with stealing from church can lead congregation again

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – A Kingsport pastor accused of stealing more than $60,000 from his church will be allowed back to lead the congregation Sunday.

Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney Amy Hinkle confirms Judge Jerry Beck ruled yesterday to let Boyd Holder again step foot inside Victory Apostolic Church at the request of Holder’s attorney. That attorney told the judge the church will not pay Holder for his services as pastor until this case is resolved, Hinkle said.

According to Hinkle, the judge told church members banning Holder from the church would be a civil matter.

Kingsport police started investigating the pastor in February. Holder is due back in court in November.
