According to a Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies responded to Old Highway 66 in Rogersville near the Persia Community on Feb. 13, in reference to two barns being on fire at the same time.

Deputies said both barns were on a family farm belonging to a Tennessee State Trooper, but an investigation by HCSO investigators, the Tennessee Fire Marshal’s Office Bomb and Arson and the Tennessee Agriculture Crime Unit determined the barn fires were not a case of revenge against a police officer.

According to the release, a grand jury indicted three people following an investigation.

Michael Lynn Johnson, 21, 732 Walkers Church Road, of Bulls Gap, and Robert Russell Johnson, 24, 1791 Highway 66, of Bulls Gap, were both arrested and charged with arson and vandalism over $60,000.

Both Michael Johnson and Robert Johnson posted at $100,000 bond and were scheduled to appear in Hawkins County Criminal Court on October 9.

David Edward Moseley, 26, 463 Kirk Ham Road, of Bean Station, was charged with arson and vandalism over $60,000.

He was taken to the Hawkins County Jail, where he was being held on $100,000 bond.

Moseley was scheduled to appear in Hawkins County Criminal Court on Oct. 9.

According to the release, Michael Lynn Johnson and Robert Russell Johnson were members of the Bulls Gap Fire Department at the time of the incident.
