TELFORD, TN (WJHL) – After a construction delay earlier this year, the Tennessee Department of Transportation says a major road project in Telford will now be finished by the middle of next month.
As we told you earlier this year, TDOT is in the midst of a safety improvement project on highway 11E in Washington County.
Among other improvements, the project includes new turn lanes, adjustments of curves, new signs and guardrails – all around Telford and Leesburg road.
The estimated $1.6 million project originally had a completion goal of June 30th of this year.
But TDOT says crews have since pushed that back to mid-September.
The reason? They discovered an unknown spring while excavating Telford Road and had to get a water quality permit to move forward.
Officials tell us paving of the final surface on the three routes, will happen later this week along with some drainage work.
