JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – If you search on Youtube for “Drop Dead Tuesday” you’ll see a few videos loaded touting a prank where people pretend to drop “dead” abruptly and stay motionless on the ground for a few moments.
The prank is mostly seen online involving a group of students in school classrooms participating in the prank.
That was the case for a group of Indian Trail Intermediate School students Tuesday during lunch.
Johnson City Schools Supervisor of Instruction and Communication Dr. Debra Bentley said around noon Tuesday around 30 students stood up in the school cafeteria filled with about 200 students and they each fell suddenly to the floor.
Bentley said teachers and school administration were unaware of the planned prank and said Principal James Jacobs later sat down with the students involved to discuss how the act was inappropriate for school, as well as the safety concerns associated with the prank.
None of the students were injured in the prank and none of the students were suspended. Bentley said they treated “Drop Dead Tuesday” as a minor issue, but said there could be consequences if the prank continues.
