Greene Co. leader resigns from position after prostitution investigation

Hilton Seay in court.

GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A Greene County commissioner ordered to more than 11 months probation for soliciting prostitution resigned from his seat effective Monday.

Hilton Seay entered an Alford plea last month after he was charged with soliciting prostitution.

By submitting the Alford plea, Seay did not admit he was guilty, but rather acknowledged there is enough evidence that could lead to a conviction.

Seay was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days of probation and his charge could be removed from his record following the completion of his probation.

Greene County Mayor David Crum said he met with Seay last month, and Seay submitted his resignation letter on July 30.

The letter was revealed at a commission meeting Monday evening and commissioners will decide Seay’s replacement at their next scheduled meeting.
