JCPD officers arrest man for fraudulently cashing paychecks

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a man Thursday on theft charges after he fraudulently cashed two paychecks at two separate banks back in April.

According to a JCPD news release, officers received a report of theft from 3206 Bristol Highway on April 10, where a victim said a former employee fraudulently cashed two paychecks at two separate banks, receiving $959.67.

A warrant was issued for Lawrence David Boggs, 26, 1112 Carrol Creek Road, No. 24, and he was located Thursday.

He was charged with theft of property over $500.

Boggs was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was served with the warrant and was being held on $5,000 bond.

He was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Friday at 1:30 p.m.
