CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A former Hampton Elementary School teacher who was convicted on rape and solicitation of a minor charges back in April 2014, will appear in court next week on charges of violating his probation.
Kelly Andrae Smith – a man sentenced to three years probation after convicted of aggravated statutory rape and two counts of solicitation of a minor on April 2, 2014 following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate relationships with two teenagers – will appear in Carter County Criminal Court before Judge Lisa Rice on Aug. 19.
According to a Tennessee Department of Correction Probation and Parole probation violation report, a search of Smith’s home on April 23 revealed he had loaded and viewed several pornographic websites on a Samsung tablet. A search of his car also revealed an iPhone with three videos of Smith and a woman engaging in sexual acts.
The iPhone search history reportedly showed Smith viewed pornographic websites on the phone, as well as searched for escort services on Craigslist.
Judge Rice issued a warrant for Smith on April 28, he was arrested and was held on $50,000 bond for violation of probation. He was released on bond on April 30.
According to the probation violation report, Smith was drug tested on July 18 and tested positive for opiates. Smith admitted to taking Lortab for back pain.
Smith was arrested and taken to Carter County Jail, where he was being held on $50,000 bond.
