NORTON, VA (WJHL) – The City of Norton Police Department conducted Operation “Perfect Storm 458” Thursday and have arrested 38 wanted individuals.
According to a NPD news release, the round-up stems from a yearlong investigation by Norton Police and the Southwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force.
Seventy-five individuals were wanted on a variety of charges, mostly drug-related and as of 2 p.m. Thursday, 22 people had been arrested.
According to the release, the 22 arrests are in addition to 16 people that had already been arrested as part of this same operation.
The police department was assisted by other agencies, which included the Southwest Virginia Regional Task Force, Wise County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Wise Police Department, Big Stone Gap Police Department, Coeburn Police Department, U.S. Forest Service, A.B.C., Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office.
