PHOTO: Balancing bear runs along Gatlinburg roadway

GATLINBURG (WATE) — A WATE viewer found this balance expert walking along U.S. Route 321. Being in close quarters to The Smokies ensures a lot of encounters with wildlife. It almost seemed like this bear was putting on a show when it starting sprinting on the narrow ledge of the roadway. That takes quite a bit of skill.

In July, one of six bears housed by non-profit group Appalachian Bear Rescue, Woody, was released back into the wild. Could this bear be a friend of Woody’s?

ABR makes sure to limit human contact as much as possible so the bears will stay wild in nature. As a non-profit, they rely heavily on donations to buy food and supplies for the bears
