BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) – She once led the Bristol Public Library Foundation and ranked as a social leader in the Tri- Cities. Now, Anita Foster Machado is indicted on charges alleging she stole money from her employer.
A Bristol, Virginia grand jury indicted Foster-Machado on five counts of embezzlement Monday.
Police said she stole more than $21,000 using the foundation’s credit card on personal purchases.
A News Channel 11 investigation revealed Foster-Machado had an extensive criminal background that dated back to the 19-80’s.
Foster Machado can enter a plea if she chooses at a hearing set for August 14th.
Her trial date is set for August 31st.
