Kyle Oliver’s career at Tennessee came to an abrupt end Thursday before it officially started.
The freshman tight end from Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., is leaving the Vols and planning to transfer to another school because of unspecified off-field issues, a source close to the situation told GoVols247 on Thursday afternoon.
The 6-foot-4, 226-pound Oliver becomes the second newcomer from Tennessee’s 2015 recruiting class to part ways with the Vols before the start of preseason camp. GoVols247 reported last week that freshman wide receiver Jocquez Bruce, a former three-star prospect from Knoxville’s South-Doyle High School, was leaving the program.
Oliver, a three-star prospect who was ranked the nation’s No. 21 tight end in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class, is looking to transfer to another Division I Football Bowl Subdivision school, according to a source.
