Eric Azotea is accused of shooting Amber Terrell and Art Gibson, stabbing them, cutting up their bodies and burning them.

In court Thursday, District Attorney Tony Clark told the judge he intends to file a motion seeking the death penalty within a week.

Azotea’s public defender’s office had a possible conflict of interest because they had previously represented a victim in the case.

The judge appointed Steve Finney to represent Azotea.

Motions are set for Aug. 24.
