King University’s Cephas signs five for upcoming season

BRISTOL, Tenn. – With the fall season right around the corner, King University head women’s volleyball coach Morris Cephas has announced his signing class for the upcoming season. The second-year head coach inked five student-athletes that will don the Scarlet and Navy in the coming weeks.

 

“We are really excited about this signing class,” Cephas said. “They have already shown so much dedication and compassion towards one another and the sport of volleyball. We are excited about their growth and to see how the future unfolds for the newest members of our family.”

 

Haley Roe, Setter (S)/Right Side (RS), Sullivan East HS, Bluff City, Tenn.

Roe comes to King from Sullivan East High School where she put up impressive numbers. She was a three-time Three Rivers Conference Setter of the Year while earning District All-Tournament team honors all four years. In both 2012 and 2013 she garnered All-Region Tournament team recognition and Roe earned TSSAA All-State Tournament team honors in 2013.

 

Angela Boudavong, Defensive Specialist (DS), Blackman HS, Murphreesboro, Tenn.

Boudavong had an impressive senior season at Blackman High School, garnering All-District and All-Region honors. She was also named DNJ second team as a libero. From her team she won the dig award along with the serve receive and serve percentage awards.

 

Abby Anderson,, Setter (S), Clarksville HS, Clarksville, Tenn.

A three-year varsity starter, Anderson joins the Tornado following an impressive career at Clarksville High School. During her senior season of 2014, Anderson garnered All-District, All-Region and All-Tournament honors for the Wildcats. She also earned All-District recognition in 2013 while ranking fourth in the district in aces and leading the district in assists. Anderson was also a three-time Leaf-Chronicle All-Area first team honoree.

 

Cathy Scaniffe, Outside Hitter (OH), South County HS, Lorton, Va.

Scaniffe closed her career at South County High School on a high note as she was named first team All-State a season ago. Along with that she garnered All-MET honorable mention as well as first team All-Region and All-Region Tournament honors in 2014. Scaniffe was named conference MVP and garnered first team all-conference before winning the same awards again in the conference tournament. In 2013 she was named second team All-State while earning first team All-Region and all-conference honors in both the regular seasons and the tournaments. Scaniffe was also the South County High School MVP in 2013.

 

Megan Morelock, Middle Blocker (MB), Kachea Christian HS, Fall Branch, Tenn.

Prior to joining the Tornado, Morelock was a four year captain at Kachea Christian High School. She was named team MVP four times while garnering All-Tournament honors twice. Morelock also earned one Offensive Player of the Year award.
