CHATTANOOGA, TN — One local football player that tore it up in the Tri-Cities recently has been doing the same as an underclassmen at UT Chattanooga.
Greeneville’s Trevor Wright was a standout defensive back for the Devils during his career there, and he took it right on into college, starting eight games, playing in all 14 and being named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team last year for the Mocs.
If you ask his head coach, they’re looking for even more out of the rising sophomore in 2015.
“What a great player he turned out to be for us, but we knew it,” said Mocs Head Coach Russ Huesman. “We recruited him hard. When he showed up last year, he was a skinny kid, kind of lanky, but he had some length about him and great feet. You just look at him now, and he just looks like a college athlete.”
Wright isn’t the only one expected to excel in Chattanooga this fall. The Mocs got 29 of 30 first place votes in the conference’s preseason poll.
