Virginia State Police troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash Monday morning in Smyth County, Va.
According to a VSP news release, troopers responded to mile marker 50 on Interstate 81 around 7:30 a.m., where they learned a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on I-81 when it ran off the road and hit a guardrail.
VSP said another vehicle stopped in an attempt to avoid the crashed Silverado and it was rear-ended by another vehicle.
A four-vehicle chain reaction occurred in the northbound lanes of the interstate.
The last vehicle involved in the crash reportedly was a tractor trailer pulling an empty cattle trailer, which overturned off to the right of I-81.
VSP said all injuries in the crash were minor and the driver of the Silverado, Elisha Untiedt, 19, of Marion, Va., was charged with reckless driving. He was reportedly not injured in the crash.
Matthew J. Henderson, 31, of Chilhowie, Va., was charged with following too closely. He reportedly suffered minor injuries.
VSP said the crash remains under investigation.
