SPARTA, KY — The car package changed, and the racing definitely improved over other 1.5 mile races on this year’s NASCAR schedule. One thing stayed the same from recent weeks, though. Kyle Busch was in the front.
Busch led the most laps at Kentucky Saturday night, taking his second win in three races and continuing his quest to make NASCAR’s Chase for the Championship.
Because he missed so many races, he’s outside the top 30 in points, which is one of the requirements to make the Chase.
If he keeps running like this, though, making the top 30 is only a formality.
“I did not want to settle for 2nd for sure,” Busch said. “That was not in my mind to do that. I just knew to continue to work and continue to put my focus forward out the windshield on what was ahead of me and that one car that I needed to get to win.”
Busch is 35th in the Points right now, 87 points out of that important 30th spot.
