BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) – Frank Goodpasture, III resigned his position on the Bristol Virginia Utilities board today.
“After much consideration, I have decided it best for all parties that I as a truck dealer resign my position on the Board of BVU Authority,” Goodpasture wrote in a letter to his cousin Mayor Archie Hubbard. “I am honored to have been appointed by the City Council and thank you for having confidence in my ability to serve.”
As we told you Monday, his motor company does big business with BVU; something he worried could be a conflict of interest if he accepted a spot on the board.
The city council’s appointment of Goodpasture was a controversial one since they effectively removed whistleblower Doug Fleenor from the board in the process. Fleenor, a former BVU board member, is the one who reported concerns about BVU to the authorities in the first place. Fleenor told us earlier this week if Goodpasture turned down the job he would reapply.
