Johnson confident as NHRA season moves on

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The NHRA drag racing circuit has the week off after they brought the thunder to Bristol last weekend. That offers another chance to get better for the team of Pro Stock driver, Allen Johnson.

The Greeneville native had just one semifinal appearance in the season’s first eight races. Since then, he finished second twice and went out in the first round at Bristol on what was basically a fluke.

Johnson knows his team is getting better, and he’s ready to finish strong.

“We’ve got a great car now. We’ve really brought this back together,” Johnson said. “We’ll keep battling, battling, and we’re very happy with the car and the whole team right now. Dad and everyone’s doing a great job. We’ll keep battling at it.”

Johnson is 5th in the Pro Stock rankings right now, with back-to-back Bristol winner Erica Enders-Stevens on top.

Christiansburg’s Matt Hagan is leading the Funny Car standings.
