Today, women gathered at the Johnson City Holiday Inn to break a sweat for a good cause.
‘Fitness for Legacy’ was a collaborative event put on by Synergy X Fitness and Red Legacy Recovery. For $20, women could participate in a day filled with exercise classes to benefit the non-profit organization.
Red Legacy is an addiction recovery program in Elizabethton. Founder and executive director Angelee Murray said the organization’s mission is to provide women with the tools they need to become self-confident, self-sufficient and employed.
“The correlation between taking care of your body, mind and soul and staying clean and sober is definitely important,” Murray said.
Bobbie Frentz with Synergy X Fitness said the therapeutic benefits of exercise was one of the reasons the group thought today’s event would make for a great partnership.
“We felt like we really could resonate with Red Legacy and what their focus is about helping other just overcome obstacles whether it’s addiction, weight issues, health and fitness issues that type of thing. We just want to come together, help people be successful in whatever their life goals are,” Frentz said.
‘Fitness for Legacy’ ran from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday and included a silent auction and vendors. All proceeds from the event benefitted Red Legacy Recovery.
