Jeff Gordon’s starting 5th in Sunday’s Toyota-Save Mart 350 at Sonoma, but in his career at his home track it’s usually been more about where he’s finished.
Gordon enters his last Sonoma race with five wins in his career there, and just as impressive, he’s been third or better 13 of 22 races there.
Now, Gordon’s ready to put an exclamation point on his career at Sonoma.
“I love coming out here, not just because it’s home. It’s just so many things, the weather, the wine country, family, and I love this race track,” Gordon said. “I’m thrilled that I’ve had the opportunity to win here five times, and I think it’s only the beginning of what we have in store for this weekend.”
Gordon was feeling the love from his home track, as well. During Friday’s media opportunity, he was given an 18-liter bottle of wine with a picture of him doing a victory burn out and the years of his five wins at the track.
He said he hopes they have to add another year to the bottle after Sunday’s race.
