The Kingsport Mets did the unthinkable Saturday night. The Mets entered the 9th inning leading Bluefield, 1-0, but then it unraveled. The Blue Jays scored four times in the frame, taking a 4-1 lead to the bottom of the 9th.
That’s when things got really crazy.
Kingsport loaded the bases with one out in the 9th before Dionis Rodriguez walked to make it 4-2. Then, Raphael Ramirez played hero, clearing the bases with a triple to walk it off, 5-4.
The Mets improved to 3-2. They host the rubber game Sunday at 4:00.
In Greeneville, the Astros bounced back from a 4-0 loss Friday with a 4-3 win over Danville Saturday.
Greeneville rode a 3-run 7th to the win, getting a 3-3 night out of Connor Goedert. They close the series Sunday at 2:00 at Pioneer Park.
Johnson City’s Jurassic World game was suspended in the 2nd inning against Burlington. The Cardinals trailed, 4-0.
The two teams will play a doubleheader Sunday starting at 6:00.
Elizabethton and Bristol were both rained out Saturday. The Twins and Pirates will host Sunday doubleheaders, both starting at 5:00.
