The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office released two new photos Friday evening of the teenage girl from Hawkins County and the convicted sex offender from Georgia at the focus of a nationwide Amber Alert.
The Sheriff’s office tweeted the two photos saying they were taken on Tuesday, June 23, at a store in the Sugar Grove Community of Smyth County, Virginia.
Hayleigh Wilson,14, Surgoinsville, and Benjamin Shook, 41, have still not been found. Shook has an active warrant out of Georgia for failure to register as a sex offender.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office said officers found the vehicle involved in the Amber Alert Thursday night in the Troutdale Community. Officers determined the car had been abandoned on Tuesday, and both Wilson and Shook “received a ride to the Sugar Grove area of Smyth County, VA.”
News Channel 11 has learned Smyth County investigators think Wilson and Shook may be on foot heading to Wythe County. Search crews were looking for them Friday night.
