JCPD arrest man for choking, assaulting girlfriend

Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a man Wednesday, following an investigation into a domestic assault on Tuesday at a Henry Street apartment.

According to a JCPD news release, police arrested James A. Miller, 36, after an investigation revealed that he choked his girlfriend after becoming upset that she was texting her ex-boyfriend.

Police said over a three-hour period Miller chocked his girlfriend until she lost consciousness and assaulted her.

The woman was taken to Johnson City Medical Center by Miller, where she was dropped off for treatment.

According to the release, the woman said Miller had made up a story about how she got her injuries.

Miller was charged with aggravated assault under the domestic violence and false imprisonment, and was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.

He was being held on $41,000 bond and was scheduled for arraignment in Sessions Court Wednesday.
