JCPD arrest man following car theft investigation

Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a man Wednesday following an investigation into a report of a car theft on June 1.

According to a JCPD news release, the owner of the car that was taken was taking Michael Daniel Rhodes, 22, 359 Rhodes Private Dr., Piney Flats, home from the mall in Johnson City.

Rhodes reportedly took the car while the victim was retrieving items from his apartment.

Police found the stolen car on June 11.

JCPD charged Rhodes with Theft of Property over $1,000.

He was being held in the Washington County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond.

Rhodes was scheduled to appear in Session Court on aThursday at 1:30 p.m.
