Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Church Hill woman Tuesday on drug violations.
According to a HCSO news release, deputies arrested Anna Lisa McKinley, 50, 227 Payne Ridge Road, Lot 25, who reportedly has an extensive criminal history ranging from previous drug charges to identity theft in four states.
McKinley was charged with delivery of a schedule III drug, following an undercover investigation into McKinley selling buprenorphine, also known as subutex.
According to the release, the investigation revealed that McKinley prescribed buprenorphine and unlawfully diverted it, where narcotics officers purchased the drugs.
HCSO said buprenorphine, while prescribed to treat drug addiction, is one of the most commonly abused prescription drugs in the county with the highest street value — $3-$5 per milligram.
McKinley was taken to the Hawkins County Jail, where she was being held on $100,000 bond.
