Attorneys for convicted murderer Nikolaus Johnson argued in front of a judge today that the Sullivan County District Attorney’s office should be recused for “impropriety and conflict of interest.”
Johnson was convicted in 2007, and sentenced to death, for the murder of Bristol Police Officer Mark Vance in 2004.
Investigators say Vance was responding to a domestic violence call when Johnson shot him in the face.
Johnson was not present for Tuesday’s hearing, part of a 150-plus page motion filed on his behalf, citing numerous issues with his trial.
A ruling was not made today, as Judge Jerry Beck continued the hearing until September 29th at 9 a.m.
