WJHL wins two Media General D. Tennant Bryan Awards

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The News Channel 11 team is happy to announce the station was awarded two D. Tennant Bryan Awards, a Media General tradition that recognizes journalism excellence throughout the company.

WJHL’s Community Watchdog Nate Morabito and Chief Photographer Phillip Murrell won an Investigative Reporting D. Tennant Bryan award for their continuous coverage surrounding theBristol Virginia Utilities scandal.

The next award was an overall station win for Breaking Weather Coverage of “Southern Snow,” as our entire team worked to bring you the latest on the 2014 snow storm that hit the region.

A total of 267 submissions were entered in the “Breaking News,” “Breaking Weather,” “Investigative Reporting,” “Outstanding Morning Newscast” and “Outstanding Evening Newscast.”

Media General’s Chairman of the Board J. Stewart Bryan and Vincent Sadusky, president and CEO, presented the awards to 16 Media General TV stations at a ceremony and idea sharing roundtable in Richmond, Va. Friday.
