Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged two people Tuesday, following an investigation into a report of a theft at a home on Bloomingdale Road in Kingsport.
According to a SCSO news release, deputies made contact with the victim who said Joshua Vermillion and Jaqueline Carroll had taken a variety of items from his apartment, which included cash, ammunition, games and knives.
During the investigation, officers learned that a silver Chevrolet Cavalier carrying a man and a woman had dumped a backpack on Riddle Street. The backpack reportedly contained some of the items reported stolen from the Bloomingdale Road apartment.
Witnesses took a photo of the license plate.
Carroll and Vermillion were stopped during a traffic stop and the vehicle they were driving was listed as being stolen out of West Virginia.
The tag of the vehicle was reported stolen from a home on Lehigh Street in Kingsport on June 7.
Vermillion and Carroll were arrested and charged with theft over $1,000 in connection with the stolen vehicle.
According to the release, Vermillion also had outstanding warrants for a violation of probation and failure to appear.
SCSO said additional charges in connection with other theft cases are pending.
