49th annual Covered Bridge Festival kicks off in Elizabethton (Image 1)

The 49th annual Covered Bridge Celebration kicked off Wednesday in Elizabethton.

The 4-day event, which started back in 1966, is packed with music, arts and crafts, children’s play area, as well as a food court.

Events featured at this year’s festival include:

Wednesday and Thursday:

6-10 p.m.- Nonprofit vendors at Covered Bridge Park

Thursday:

6 p.m.- Ice cream social at Covered Bridge Park

Friday and Saturday:

10 a.m.-10 p.m.- Arts and crafts, Kid’s Island, Food vendors- Covered Bridge Park

Saturday:

5K Run/3K Walk- Registration will start at 6:30 a.m., the run/walk event will start at 8 a.m.

Kid’s Catfish Tournament- Registration will start at 8 a.m., tournament will run from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at WDC Hwy 91.

Community Yard Sale- 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sycamore and E Street; 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Rain Location—Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton

Corn Hole Tournament- 10 a.m. at Security Federal Parking Lot

Little Mr. & Mrs. Hillbilly Contest- 11 a.m. in Covered Bridge Park

Cruise-In- 5-9 p.m. at East Elk Avenue
