SEATTLE (MEDIA GENERAL) – Starbucks is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Frappuccino and it wants you to vote on the winner of six new flavors.
Caramel Cocoa Cluster, Cinnamon Roll, Cotton Candy, Cupcake, Lemon Bar and Red Velvet Cake are all available in stores now. Voting runs from June 19-30 on Frappuccino.com.
The winning flavor will be announced July 3 and then for July 4th weekend from July 3-6, you’ll be able to buy the winning drink for a discounted price of $3 from 2-5 p.m.
So which favorite will you try first and how many calories are these new drinks packing inside those green and clear cups? We broke it down for you, plus added a few tips on how to try the new flavors with a little less guilt.
The Caramel Cocoa Cluster Frappuccino includes toffee nut syrup, coffee, milk and ice along with a layer of dark caramel sauce, whipped cream, and a drizzle of mocha sauce. A 16 ounce grande drink is 470 calories. But, if you try a 12 ounce tall with nonfat milk and no whipped cream, you can cut that calorie count down to 220.
The Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino includes cinnamon dolce syrup, white chocolate mocha sauce, vanilla bean, coffee, milk and ice, whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon dolce topping. The 16 ounce will cost you 510 calories, the most of the new flavors. But, the 12 ounce with skim milk and no whipped cream will only run 220 calories.
The Cotton Candy Frappuccino includes vanilla bean, raspberry syrup, milk and ice, and whipped cream. This grande drink adds up to 430 calories. If you use skim milk, no whipped cream and ask for the tall, you’ll cut it down to 180 calories.
The Cupcake Frappuccino includes vanilla bean, hazelnut syrup, milk and ice, and whipped cream. This 16 ounce drink fully-loaded is 420 calories. A smaller size with skim milk and no whipped cream is 180 calories.
The Lemon Bar Frappuccino includes lemonade, vanilla syrup, milk and ice, whipped cream and a sprinkle of caramel sugar. This drink is the least calories of the six new flavors. A grande is 350 calories. A tall, skim milk, no whipped cream version is 140 calories.
The Red Velvet Cake Frappuccino includes mocha sauce, raspberry syrup, vanilla syrup and Frappuccino chips with milk and ice, and whipped cream. This drink runs 480 calories for the 16 ounce. A 12 ounce with skim milk and no whipped cream will ring in at 230 calories.
If you really just want to try each one, you could buy a mini version which is 10 ounces. If you ask for skim milk and no whipped cream, you can order all six flavors in the tiniest size for 860 calories total.
