PITTSBURGH (AP) – Steelers rookie tight end Jesse James grew up in the Pittsburgh suburbs watching Heath Miller on TV.
Now Miller’s his teammate.
Pittsburgh took James in the fifth round of the NFL draft with an eye toward the future.
Miller is about to enter his 11th season with the Steelers. He is comfortable in his role as mentor to James, who was an All-Big Ten selection last fall at Penn State.
At 6-foot-7, he gives quarterback Ben Roethlisberger another big red zone target, though James says he’s focusing most of his first few weeks in the NFL trying to get acclimated to life as a professional.
