Sometime soon you will see ads on the sides of Carter County school buses.
According to the county director of transportation Wayne Sams, the county is allowing companies to buy space on the school buses to bring in revenue to buy cameras for the buses.
The carter county school system has almost 80 buses.
Sams said cameras are on half of the buses and he is hoping to get funding to add cameras on the rest.
We’re told the ads will be small,16 inches by 60 inches.
“Any type of advertisement of course has to be child friendly, as far as the law, anything that goes on one of these buses Dr. (Kevin) Ward or myself has to approve it first,” Sams said.
Sams said Subway has already bought space on six buses.
He said the county is contracting with a company to get the ads, and will pocket 55 percent of the revenue.
He said if they sell space on all of the buses it could mean 66,000 dollars in revenue each year for Carter County Schools.
